More Troops In Action

Starting this spring, 3200 Marines will be deployed to Afghanistan. This deployment has been labeled as "extraordinary, one-time." The trip will be seven months. The troop increase is due to the number of Taliban attacks that have steadily risen over the past several months. Some of the troops are being sent to help train the Afghanistan police, so they will be able to handle the country on their own. Hopefully this will be the last deployment because it would bring the number of troops in Afghanistan to 30,000. The number of troops hasn't been this high since the Taliban over-throw in 2001.
The Marine Corps was originally founded in 1775. The Marine Corps are a branch of the US Military. The Marine Corps are used for quick power projection operations at sea. They are under the US Navy, administratively, but they have their own military branch. The Marine Corps has been currently useful in the war of global terrorism.
