Death Penalty Rates Dropping Drastically

Death penalty rates have been dropping across the country, with more states abolishing the practice. Other states like New Hampshire allow it but no one has been executed in over a couple decades. Texas is still the main executor of the death penalty. Texas used to be responsible for 32% of the executions in the country but in the year 2007 they were responsib le for 62% of the executions. This is because since 2004 the number of executions has greatly dropped and the number of executions in Texas have dropped too, but not drastically as the rest f the country has. At this rate the death penalty may go out of existence in all states. This means that more prisoners would be given sentences of life without the possibility of parole, and be in jail wasting tax dollars for their life span.

This did happen once where the death penalty was abolished in all fifty states. It was later reinstated in 1976, but many states have abolished it again like Massachusetts or other states still have it techncally in tact but do not use it like New Hampshire. In another decade or so the death penalty could go out of existance like it once was.
